Thakurmar Jhuli by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder is a popular Fairy Tales which is written by Dakshinaranjan Mitra. Thakurmar Jhuli means Grandmother's Tales which is a collection of Bengali folk tales and fairy tales. Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder collected some folk-stories of Bengal and published it under the name of Thakurmar Jhuli in 1907 . Rabindra Nath Thakur wrote the introduction to the compilation. Since then, it has become a favourite of Bengali children. Over the years, it has become a household name in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Dakshinaranjan Mitra was a reputed Indian writer. His major contribution to Bengali literature was the collection and compilation of Bengali folk and fairy tales in four volumes - Thakurmar Jhuli , Thakurdadar Jhuli , Thandidir Thale and Dadamashayer Thale . He was born at Ulail in Dhaka in 15 April 1877 and died on 30 March, 1956 in Kolkata, India.
